Our procedures take place at our office, located at 2631 Forest Dr. in Columbia.
The Center provides endoscopic care (colonoscopies, EGDs and sigmoidoscopies) to the greater Columbia and surrounding areas.
If you are receiving anesthesia, you must have someone to drive you home. Your driver is required to remain at our facility throughout the entire procedure. If your driver leaves, it could result in a delay or the need to reschedule your procedure.
An upper endoscopy, also known as esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), is a medical procedure used to visually examine the upper part of the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, and the beginning of the small intestine (duodenum). During the procedure, a thin, flexible tube with a camera on the end is inserted through the mouth, allowing doctors to identify and assess issues such as inflammation, ulcers, tumors, and other abnormalities. This procedure is often used to diagnose the causes of symptoms like heartburn, abdominal pain, swallowing difficulties, and gastrointestinal bleeding.
Water immersion colonoscopy is a technique used during a colonoscopy where water is infused into the colon instead of air or gas. This method helps to gently open the colon, providing a clearer view of the intestinal walls and making the procedure more comfortable for the patient. The water also aids in cleaning the colon, allowing for better detection of polyps, lesions, and other abnormalities. Water immersion colonoscopy is especially beneficial in reducing discomfort during the insertion of the colonoscope and improving overall patient tolerance of the procedure.
A colonoscopy is a medical procedure that allows doctors to examine the inside of the large intestine (colon) and rectum. During the procedure, a long, flexible tube with a camera on the end, called a colonoscope, is inserted through the rectum and guided through the colon. This allows doctors to visually inspect the colon’s lining for any abnormalities, such as polyps, tumors, inflammation, or other signs of disease. Colonoscopies are commonly used to screen for colorectal cancer, investigate symptoms like abdominal pain or unexplained bleeding, and monitor conditions like inflammatory bowel disease.
